Refurbishment begins at village leisure centre
REFURBISHMENT work has begun at a leisure centre.
The Pavilion leisure centre, in Huncote, is being improved as part of a £4.9 million investment that also includes Enderby leisure centre.
Work at the Pavilion started on October 28 and is expected to finish in early December.
It includes extending and refurbishing the gym, which will increase to 50 stations, and providing a broader range of gym equipment.
An outdoor functional training area is being added, as well as a new group cycling studio which will host virtual classes.
The changing rooms will be refurbished, along with the group fitness studio.
The gym is expected to remain open during most of the work.
The changing rooms will be closed from November 18 to early December.
Members at the Pavilion will be able to use facilities at Enderby leisure centre, Wigston pool and fitness centre, Parklands leisure centre, in Oadby, Lutterworth sports centre, Harborough leisure centre, Hood Park, in Ashby and Hermitage, in Whitwick, for the duration of the work.
James Naylor, contract manager at Everyone Active, which runs the centre, said: “It’s fantastic refurbishment work is now under way at the Pavilion.
“When we entered into our partnership with Blaby District Council we did so with a mutual ambition to make the community more active, more often.
“The refurbishment at the Pavilion, alongside those at Enderby, will help us to deliver on that ambition with a range of new facilities and ways to get active.
“I’d like to thank members for their patience while the work is being carried out and we look forward to showing off the facilities once they are complete.”
John Richardson, strategic director at Blaby District Council, said: “We are excited to see the work at the Pavilion get under way.
“The fantastic first phase of refurbishments at Enderby shows these improvements are of a high standard, to benefit both existing and new members.”
