Five pubs reported to have been sold in deal
FIVE Leicestershire pubs are reportedly among the 137 venues to have been sold by Marston’s to Admiral Taverns.
Admiral Taverns announced at the start of last week it had bought the pubs from the brewing giant in a deal – although it has not revealed the names of the sites involved.
However, a list of 137 pubs has apparently been leaked to Hinckley Times sister paper the Stoke Sentinel.
It includes the names of five Leicestershire pubs:
The Nags Head, Stapleton
Rose and Crown, Loughborough The Generous Briton, Melton
The Blue Lion, Thrussington
The Plough Inn, Enderby
Admiral Taverns have been contacted regarding the list, but a company spokesman said it could neither confirm nor deny if these pubs are included in the deal.
In a statement, Admiral Taverns said its acquisition “builds on the group’s successful track record of acquiring, integrating and developing sustainable tenanted pub businesses, unlocking growth opportunities through its award-winning and operations-centric approach.”
The statement also said that in order to support the integration of the pubs, it will use managed-operator firm Helen Standing Ltd, while it “evaluates the longer-term opportunities for these sites”.
Chris Jowsey, chief executive of Admiral Taverns, said: “This is another exciting acquisition for our business, building on the strong momentum established over the course of the year .
“On behalf of the entire team, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome our new licensees and colleagues to Admiral.
“We remain fully committed to the leased and tenanted model and through this acquisition have been able to acquire an excellent portfolio of pubs, which we look forward to developing through our award- winning and highly supportive approach.
“I’m also very pleased that Helen Standing has agreed to partner with us to support the wider integration programme for some of these pubs.
“Helen is a highly successful, experienced operator who is well known to our team and we are looking forward to working very closely with her and these pubs.”
