LRFC take another three points

Sam Munton replaced Gomes on 69 mins and he immediately got into the game with his pace and guile down the right. He set up Brennan, who fired in from 20 yards and there were claims for handball as it cannoned clear. Langham then turned his marker inside the box and his effort destined for the corner was deflected wide.

On 75 mins a Simon Alcott pile driver wrong footed the Kirby keeper, but he did well to adjust and fingertip it over the bar, while minutes later Read raced clear again but after rounding the keeper he poked it wide under pressure from a defender who raced back. Burrows then shot straight at the keeper when he pounced on a loose ball and you sensed a second goal coming surely?

On 86 mins Read again beat the right full back Toon, but his crosscome-shot was blocked with Langham lurking, plus on 89 mins Brennan slid in late on an inviting cross but it flicked up and over.

Right on full time another glancing Langham header had Jones scrambling across his goal, but straight after The Road No. 9 thought he had his second when burying a Burrows square ball - but the latter was adjudged to have run the ball out of play as he overlapped down the left and it stayed 1-0 to the home side.

Next up for LRFC is the short trip to Ibstock on Saturday 23rd November, kick off, 3pm, when the Road take on Hinckley AFC.
