Hinckley take second win of the season

-

HINCKLEY A were at home against Godiva A this week. Hinckley had a full squad and started well finishing the first quarter in the lead but only by one goal.

The second quarter saw Hinckley get ahead by 4 or 5 goals within the first few minutes however Godiva fought back and got to within 3 by half time; the score being 25-22. The third and forth quarters were very tight and the Hinckley spectators had a stressful time watching. Godiva managed to get ahead by one goal at one point during the last half but Hinckley did not give up and came back fighting. The final score Hinckley 51-45 giving them their second win of the season. Player of the match went to Hinckley Wing Defence Jess Rainbow for her determination and strong game play throughout this weeks match.

Hinckley C’s started out strong against Griff. After loosing the 1st centre they were neck and neck with some great shots from Fran GS and Chloe GA.

Hinckley’s centre court game was strong trying to stick with the opponents but also getting into some lovely positions to outwit them.

Their defence was strong with Jo GK and Laura as GD keeping the shots at bay.

Sadly Griff turned over a few centre passes which caused Hinckley to fall behind.

Griff fought hard but Hinckley C stayed positive and held their own on court not letting heads go down there was great communication and some great game play, but sadly they couldn’t finish the shot, luck was just not on their side and Griff pulled away with a better goal difference.

All the C’s worked hard and represented Hinckley with great sportsmanship and teamwork but sadly they lost 30-20. They will come back fighting for their next game. POM was Chloe Phillips.

This week’s match saw a chilly and foggy start to their game away against Offcurch, with floods en route but this didn’t dampen Hinckley D’s spirits. They got stuck into their game and things were an even battle at the beginning of the first quarter.

Offchurch settled into their game and ended the first quarter with a notable lead on Hinckley.

A few changes of position in the break saw Hinckley rethink their tactics but this was to be the most challenging quarter of the game. The second quarter ended with Offchurch leading convincingly.

Offchurch played a brilliant game and exploited any of Hinckley’s weaker passes, intercepting anything which wasn’t 100% accurate. Their strong play forced a few errors from Hinckley who battled on regardless. Offchurch had some strong shooters on their team and had accurate feeds into the goals circle. Despite this, Hinckley defence had some spectacular interceptions, earning Jade Isaac the well-deserved title of player of the match. Final score was Hinckley 25 – Offchurch 56

Hinckley E were playing Griff and Coton D, with a strong start and some excellent defending with many rebounds, after the first half there was a strong lead. With a few changes at half time, Griff started to pull it back but as the last quarter approached, there was some brilliant shooting and the defenders continued to play brilliantly. Throughout the whole of the game the team pushed through, making each second count to end up with a win with the score 35-21 and player of the match was Harriet who was playing WA.

Hinckley U16A had a tough game against league toppers Leamington this weekend. A slow start for Hinckley gave Leamington an early lead despite numerous interceptions and delaying tactics from Hinckley’s defence forcing the ball back. Hinckley found their feet in the second half; winning the third quarter with strong drives onto the ball throughout the court. A great game but Hinckley couldn’t battle back against Leamington’s early lead. Final score 20-30. POM Elle
