BURGLARS have stolen a £50,000 Mercedes sports car with a top speed of 155mph.

The thieves took the Mercedes AMG C63, which can get from 0 to 60mph in 4.4 seconds, after taking the keys by breaking into a house in Markfield Road, Groby.

The break-in happened between 9.30am and 10.30am on Tuesday, October 29. Police have just made an appeal for public help with the case.

People were in the house at the time of the break-in. Nothing else was stolen and no injuries were reported.

Police believe that stripes on the side of the white car, may have been removed to try to disguise the stolen vehicle.

Officers also think the car may still be in the Groby area.

A police spokesman said: “The car stolen is a white Mercedes Benz.

“It has a high engine power of 6.2 litres. “It is believed the car could still be in the area and officers are asking anyone who believes they have seen the vehicle to make contact. “It is believed false plates are being used.

“The burglary happened at a property in Markfield Road, between 9.30am and 10.30am on October 29.

“Entry was gained to the property and the car keys taken, leading to the vehicle being stolen.

“No damage was caused to the property and no other items were stolen. There were people in the property at the time of the incident but they were not in the part of the property where the crime was committed.”

Detective Constable Mike Steer said: “While the car may have had alterations made to its design, we believe it could still be in the area.

“If you believe you have seen the car in the area during the past month, you should get in contact with us.

“Have you seen it being driven around – or have you noticed a similar-looking car parked on a street nearby?”
