District council website named one of the best

-

BLABY District Council’s website has been named the best local government website in the UK in the latest Sitemorse INDEX.

Sitemorse independently assess content and digital capability across local authority websites. The INDEX provides looks at the performance of the website against eight assessment categories, including accessibility, brand, ease of search and spelling.

The council’s new website launched in March 2019 and made the new website simpler to use, following extensive work which introduced accessible, clear content and improved loading speeds. The website now ranks above 403 other local authorities.

Sitemorse bases its rigorous assessment on 1,600 tests. The first assessment following the launch of the new website saw it jump 309 places to seventh place in the rankings, before rising to second place in the previous quarter. Continuing work after launch to improve the website even further has taken it to top spot in the latest rankings.

Colin Jones, Group Manager for Corporate Services, said: “We recognise that more and more residents are accessing our services online, reinforcing our commitment to making the website the best it can be, and we’re delighted to reach top spot in Sitemorse’s rankings.

“The fantastic hard work from the website team to keep us amongst the best local authority websites in the UK will continue to offer a user-friendly, accessible website without any barriers.”
