Event at town library to launch programme for 2020
INTERESTED in LGBT+ issues and events in the Hinckley and Bosworth area?
On Wednesday (today) from 10am until 12.30pm, Hinckley Library will be hosting an event in conjunction with Hinckley and Bosworth Council, North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire College (NWSLC), the LGBT Centre and St Mary’s Church to launch a programme of events for 2020.
The event will also be a chance to discuss LGBT+ issues in the community.
In 2019 the partnership organised a year-long programme of events which highlighted the main dates in the LGBT calendar.
February saw the launch event of LGBT History Month at NWSLC.
An exhibition in May focussed on IDAHOBIT (International Day against Homophobia and Transphobia) and St Mary’s Church held a service for the Trans Day of Remembrance in November.
Barwell-based LGBT+ Rights Campaigner Mathew Hulbert said: “This is set to be a great opportunity for people visiting the library to find out more about the LGBT+ focused events that we’ve held in the town over the past year and what we’ve got in store for 2020.
“Advocacy like this is so important, as the fight for full rights and recognition, especially for trans, gender fluid and non-binary individuals, goes on.
“I hope lots of people will come along.”
Council Leader, Cllr Stuart Bray said “Everyone is welcome to attend this event and involve themselves in supporting LGBT+ issues and learning more about the support available locally.
“We look forward you.” to welcoming
