Weather the focus as Spring Tide could cause problems

-

NOW that the Conservative Party BREXIT debate is resolved; with a huge Conservative majority against a weakened Commons Parliamentary opposition; there may be less political distraction.

The 2019 General Election voting in Hinckley and Bosworth provided two notable increases from the 2017 General Election with the Conservative Party increase from 31,864 to 36,056, a percentage increase of 13%; and the Green Party increase from 1,047 to 1,502, a percentage increase of 43%.

We live in an uncertain time with the weather, but caring may make a difference.

During this year, the weather in Leicestershire may experience the start of a drought and occasional damage to such items as fence panels and falling trees due to strong westerly winds off the Atlantic Ocean.

However a drought will provide a substantial amount of enjoyable mainly dry weather for many.

There will be a Full Moon on Sunday 9 February at 33 minutes past 7 in the morning when the Earth will be aligned between the Sun and the Moon.

A day or two after, the increased gravitational pull on the Atlantic Ocean and the North Sea by the Moon with that of the Sun will cause a Spring Tide (a very High Tide) for a couple of days.

The Spring Tide will slow the flow of the River Trent at Keadby in North Lincolnshire, which is tidal. The River Trent will cause the River Soar and the River Wreake (which flows to the River Soar at Rothley) to slow.

The River Trent will also slow the River Tame which will slow the River Anker at Tamworth in Staffordshire. If there is heavy rain, there may be localised flooding in some parts of Leicestershire due to the rivers unable to discharge all of the rainfall. Alan Cantrill
