Big indoor bike ride for good causes
A CHARITY indoor bike ride is set to return on Sunday February 23 after the success of last year’s event.
The third Lutterworth Big Indoor Bike Ride held in February last year raised over £2,500 for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust and Rotary Charities.
A spokesperson said: “The event is for those who would like to experience a guided classic bike ride but indoors, at your own pace and with motivational musical backing.
“To this end the Lutterworth Rotary Club is again teaming up with spinning coach Richard Stannard to provide the opportunity to ride static bikes on up to six different classic cycle routes such as the Col du Tourmalet and Mt Ventoux.”
The event will be held at the Lutterworth Sports Centre using 35 static bikes over six one hour sessions [12noon-6pm] and is ideal for both regular cyclists and novices who wish to have fun getting fit with this ‘Spin into Spring’.
The spokesperson continued: “There are six different rides and each one is choreographed with full musical score from Richard’s extensive collection. Last year several entrants completed the full six hour session.
“For those who are regular cyclists this will be an ideal workout in preparation for spring and summer road work culminating in the 9th Lutterworth Big Bike Ride planned for the 16th August.
“The sessions are suitable for everyone, as you take the route at your own pace and just do as much as you want.
“As well as being an enjoyable way to get fit, the event will raise funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, Macmillan Cancer Support and Rotary supported charities at home and abroad.”
The entry charge is £10 per bike per hour which can be booked at the Lutterworth Sports Centre reception [cash only] or online at Entrycentral.com.
