Society choses next two beneficiaries

Earl Shilton Building Society’s community fund

-

CUSTOMERS at Earl Shilton Building Society have decided how £500 will be split between two good causes for the final quarter of 2019.

The tokens have now been counted, with Barwell and Earl Shilton Street Pastors to receive £256.20 and Leicestershire and Rutland Sands to receive £243.80.

The initiative is part of the society’s ‘In the Community’ fund, which aims to support events and groups operating in the area in a pledge to be at the centre of local life.

Paul Tilley, chief executive of ESBS, said: “It’s fantastic to see the number of tokens placed in the collectors over the past quarter, and we would like to thank everyone for their help in making this community project a success.”

The two charities that have been selected for the first quarter of 2020 are Wishes 4 Kids and Macmillan Cancer Support.

Wishes 4 Kids was created by Russell Brickett in 2002, granting wishes to children and youngsters in Leicestershire who are life limited, terminally ill, or have suffered major abuse.

The charity has already granted thousands of wishes for local children, bringing a short period of respite that they, along with their parents, will treasure for the rest of their life.

Wishes 4 Kids is funded solely by public donations and doesn’t receive Government or National Lottery funding.

Gary Lowe, charity manager for Wishes 4 Kids, said: “Thank you for choosing to support our charity.

“We are so grateful to you all, and incredibly thankful on behalf of the children whose lives you will have changed forever by helping to make their wishes come true.”

Macmillan Cancer Support provides physical, financial and emotional support to help people with cancer live life as fully as they can.

They support people in many ways from the moment of diagnosis, through treatment and beyond, from funding nurses to providing help through its seven-day-a-week support line.

Francesca Pearson, fundraising manager for Macmillan Leicestershire, said: “We’d like to thank ESBS and their customers for fundraising for Macmillan.

“We’re thrilled to have their support, as it can really make a difference for people living with cancer”.
