Diamonds ARE forever as Ray’s ring is returned

-

He realised he had lost the ring when they sat down at a table in the restaurant at the centre in Ashby Road.

“I thought it had probably fallen off when I was taking my gloves on and off as we walked around the garden centre, looking at labels and the like,” said Ray.

“I informed the staff and gave them my details and a description of the ring and asked if they could call me if someone handed in a ring. “It was very upsetting to lose the ring.”

The next day, Ray called the garden centre but was told no-one had handed a ring in. However, five minutes later, his phone rang and it was a member of staff telling him a ring had been found.

“I was delighted,” he said. “I went straight there and collected it.”

Annette Flewitt, who works at Dobbies, said she was happy to be able to reunite Ray with his diamond ring which was found in the restaurant.

“We have lots of lost property handed in but this had real sentimental value,” she said.

“Sometimes we are not able to give people their belongings back as they are not handed in so it was lovely to see Mr Noble and make his day.

“He was a very happy man when I gave him his ring back.”

The person who found did not leave a name.

“I would very much like to thank this person for their very public-spirited behaviour, “said Mr Noble.

“It was very kind of them to hand my ring in. I guess this goes to show that diamonds are forever.”

Earlier this month, a customer found a gold ring in a savoy cabbage at Farndon Fields Farm Shop, near Market Harboorugh.

The customer handed the ring in at the farm shop but so far no-one has been in touch to claim it.
