Why your Freeview may need retuning

-

PEOPLE who notice an issue with their Freeview TV signal in the coming weeks shouldn’t panic – it may just be because of the updates to TV signals across the UK.

The updates are required by the government to free up airwaves for future broadband devices and are being carried out between now and mid-2020.

The Midlands is served by the Waltham transmitter group and around 700,000 homes will be affected across the midlands.

You can expect to see changes around Wednesday, March 4 if you live in Leicestershire or other parts of the East Midlands.

The update will begin shortly after midnight and Freeview channels will be off-air overnight until 6am. After this, any viewers receiving their TV signal from the main Waltham transmitter who find they are missing channels can retune. Services from smaller local relays may be subject to disruption until late afternoon

When you notice your channels are missing, simply retune your television or box. If that doesn’t work and you are having problems getting your channels back then help is at hand.

“Our advice line team can talk you through the retune and you may also be eligible for free inhome support, including aerial work where necessary,” said a statement.

If you have any questions or queries about the change then you can call the free advice line on 0808 100 0288.

Other terrestrial services that offer Freeview such as YouView, BT TV and TalkTalk will also be affected.
