Freya is organising charity events as part of the challenge Young dancer targets pageant finals and a trip to the windy city
A YOUNG dancer from Burbage could be jetting off to Chicago as she takes part in the Miss Junior Galaxy United Kingdom pageant finals again.
Freya Moore, a student at Shelby Academy of Performing Arts, is excited to be chosen again after she was third runner up in last year’s contest.
This year’s winner will be flown to the windy city in summer 2020 for the trip of a lifetime and to compete in an international contest.
With the girls encouraged to do some charity work as they gear up for the pageant, Freya has been organising a sponsored walk, cake sale, a danceathon and a family fun night in aid of cancer care trust The Christie.
At last year’s finals, she won Miss Junior Charity Queen after raising just over £2,400 for the good cause.
Mum Kerrie said: “We saw how much she loved last year’s experience so we’re happy for her to apply again.
“We were happy at her excitement and always supportive of what she wants to do.
“With the fundraising and charity aspect, makes it such a positive thing to do also.
“Freya has danced since the age of four, has a passion for musical theatre and has been fortunate to have the opportunity of performing in four professional shows.
“She is such a caring soul and is getting excited as the competition draws close.”
Freya is being sponsored by Deb’s Nail Lounge in Hinckley, as Deb has done the family’s nails for over seven years and has followed her progress over the last few years.
The young model is also visiting the local foodbank and PDSA (People’s Dispensary for Sick Animals) with a haul of donations, as many people have chipped in with raffle prizes, blankets for the PDSA and items for the foodbank.
Green Towers gave Freya a discount on a room hire for one of the events while Fields Fitness Club gave a fitness pass for one as an item to auction off. it
