Teenage cyclist dies after collision with car
17-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene
A TEENAGE cyclist has died following a collision with a car.
Emergency services were called to the B4669 Leicester Road, in Sapcote, shortly before 5pm on Wednesday last week.
The 17-year-old was in a crash involving a blue Mini Cooper car according to police.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A police spokesman said: “We were called to the collision at 4.55pm.
“East Midlands Ambulance Service was also in attendance and the teenage boy was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The family of the boy have been informed and are being supported by officers.
“No other injuries have been reported in the incident.” The incident occurred on the outskirts of Sapcote, close to the junction with the B4114 Coventry Road. A road closure was put in place, along part of the B4660 and between the Leicester Road junction and the B4114 Mill on the Soar junction for Stoney Stanton.
Officers are appealing for anyone with any information in relation to the incident to get in touch. Detective Constable John Borlase said: “We are continuing to establish the full circumstances of this collision and are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision or who saw either of the vehicles beforehand to make contact with us. “If you have any dashcam footage from the area at the time, please also check this to see if it could assist with our inquiries.” Anyone with information should call 101.
