New executive head has been appointed
THE trust behind Heath Lane Academy in Earl Shilton has appointed a new executive principal.
Simon Lomax will oversee the next stage of the group’s development, after five years as principal of Nuneaton Academy.
He has worked for the trust for over eight years and has an MA in education from Keele University and has achieved the National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH).
According to the Government’s key measure of student progress known as ‘Progress 8,’ Heath Lane Academy was the most improved secondary school in Leicestershire in the latest figures.
Other academies in the trust also have rapidly improving scores.
Mr Lomax said: “I am delighted to be appointed as executive principal of the trust and look forward to working with students, staff and the local community to lead the next stage of its exciting journey.”
Marion Plant, chief executive of the trust, said: “Simon’s appointment will bring strength to the leadership of the trust and I am confident that he is the right person to lead the MAT as we build on the significant progress already made. We have introduced a shared knowledge-rich, five-year curriculum across all four schools with common teaching methods, collaborative planning and continuous professional development opportunities for staff.
“These changes have already seen a significant transformation in, for example, student behaviour.
“Our plans are having an impact seen in improved results and increasing school rolls. All trust schools are set to see improved results this summer, with the Nuneaton Academy expecting the school’s best results on record.”
In 2019, three out of four of the trust schools improved in academic performance at key stage 4, according to Department for Education league tables.
