Town Soap Box Derby cancelled
Events called off in the town centre
A STRING of events including the annual Soap Box Derby have had to be cancelled because of the coronavirus lockdown.
The Atkins Gallery at the Atkins building continues to be closed until further notice and there will be no conferences taking place for the foreseeable future.
Simon Jones, cultural services manager at the borough council, said: “We have to continue to follow Government guidance and support all social distancing procedures.
“We are all incredibly disappointed as a lot of hard work goes into the planning of these events however we will continue to monitor and review government advice before making a decision about events that are due to take place later in the summer and advise people in due course.”
The events are:

July 5 -The Boodons,

July 5 - Hinckley BID’s Soap Box Derby, Castle Street
July 15 - Hinckley BID’s Summer of Fun, Market Place & The Crescent
July 16 - Hinckley BID’s Classic Vehicle Meet, Market Place
July 17 - Variety Night Live (Stanley Opera), Hollycroft Park
July 18 - Butterfly Count, Hollycroft Park
July 22 - Hinckley BID’s Summer of Fun, Market Place
July 25 - Music that have been in the cancelled

Many shops in the town centre are set to reopen on June 15 with safety measures in place to protect customers. Floor markers will help people keep distanced while they queue and hand sanitisers will be available on Castle Street and Market Place.
