The curtain will not rise for at least five months
CURVE UPDATE PUTS OPENING DATE AT END OF OCTOBER
LEICESTER theatre Curve will not be reopen until Halloween - at the earliest.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the theatre has been closed since March - and it has now been confirmed that it will not reopen until this autumn.
A statement issued by chief executive Chris Stafford, artistic director Nikolai Foster and Team Curve said: “Following Government advice around the Covid-19 pandemic, Curve will remain closed for performances until Saturday, October 31.
“Although we know this is disappointing, we are working hard to ensure our programme of work and community offer is as strong as ever for when we are able to reopen the theatre.
“In the meantime, we are contacting all customers and we ask everyone to be patient at this time and to not contact the box office – we promise a member of the team will be in touch.
“As always, our thoughts are with the Made at Curve production team, freelance artists, audiences, musicians, Curve Young Company members, affiliate companies, associates, performers and all those working tirelessly across the theatre industry, to ensure theatre and culture will continue to thrive in the UK.”
Some shows - such as Sister Act and Six have been rescheduled, while others - such as Roman Holiday and Quiz have been cancelled (see panel above).
Curve advises that customers who have tickets for a show that has now been rescheduled will have their bookings automatically transferred, free of charge, to the new date on a like for like basis.
“We contact all ticket holders by e-mail and ask them to opt in to the automatic transfer of tickets,” said a spokeswoman. “If you are unable to make the rescheduled dates, then full refunds will be available.
“In addition, please be assured that if we do not have your email address, your tickets will be transferred, placed on hold and we will contact you via phone or post when the building reopens.
New tickets for each show will be issued by post or print-at-home later on this year. In addition, customers will be able to collect new tickets from the box office when it reopens.
Theatre-goers are encouraged to support Curve by becoming a Curve advocate, buying advance tickets for future shows, making a donation, or becoming a Curve member.
