Borough Indie music festival now cancelled

110 Above was due to take place near Market Bosworth in August

THIS year’s 110 Above festival, which was due to take place in August, has been cancelled.

The indie fest has followed the likes of Download, Timber and more in pulling the plug due to the pandemic.

But the team which organises the independent event in Gopsall, near Twycross, said there would be a 2021 festival and this year’s tickets would be valid for that event instead.

The organisers said in a statement: “With everything we have put in during the past decade, this year we have been hoping, praying, crossing fingers and toes, for the situation to rapidly improve so there would be enough certainty to be able to go ahead. Devastatingly, it’s just not going to be possible, as even if things are better by August there is so much that needs to be done well in advance of the festival which, with the current restrictions and lack of certainty, just hasn’t been and won’t be possible.

“We are not willing to cut any corners – big or small – should it jeopardise the safety of our amazing attendees and staff.

“We know this is news many of you will have been dreading but we know in our hearts it is 100 per cent the right decision.”

The event was due to take place between Thursday, August 13, and Sunday, August 16, and bands due to appear included The Amazons, Bad Sound, Bloxx and Sports Team.

The organisers said they “will make up for this” in 2021 and asked people not to ask for refunds if possible.

They said: “It would mean the world to us if refunds are minimalised, but we recognise everyone is going through their own battle now.”
