New president takes over at the Lions

-

HINCKLEY and Burbage Lions Club have installed a new president in rather unusual circumstances.

Due to the Covid-19 virus, outgoing president Jackie Parratt was obliged to hand over the chain of office to Peter Fisher in his garden.

Peter has been a member of the Lions for over 20 years, but joined his present club after moving to the area two and a half years ago,

He transferred from Wellesbourne and District, where he had previously been secretary, raft race chair for five years and president twice.

“As the incoming president at Hinckley and Burbage Lions Club, and having now completed 20 years of Lions’ service, I am keen to find new opportunities and wants to promote the club locally with both fund raising and service activities,” Peter explained.

Outgoing president Jackie said: “I am honoured and proud to have served for the last two years and especially proud of the essential financial support our club has given recently, during these difficult times.

“I am sure Peter will do a tremendous job and wish him all the best.”

A serve. spokesperson said: “Lions It’s that simple. Founded in 1917, Lions now have 1.4 million members, in over 200 countries across the globe. Lions are ordinary people who do extraordinary things to help others and support good causes. Globally we have more volunteers in more places than any other service club organisation.

“You don’t have to have a lot of time or money to be a Lion, just a desire to help do something for others, whilst being part of a worldwide organisation.

“Lions is one of the best kept secrets…if you want to know more find us on Facebook or email us at hinckleyandburbagelionsevents@ outlook.com.”
