Head torches help light the way for air ambulance

-

A HINCKLEY club is helping light the way for air ambulance crews responding to nighttime calls.

Hinckley Ambion Rotary Club has donated 30 head torches to the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance.

The teams need the kit so that they can safely move around after landing at a call at night or when visibility is poor.

The cost of the torches was £1,000, which was shared between the club and The Rotary Foundation.

The group recently marked the changeover of its president despite the coronavirus restrictions.

Ben Mangiante handed over the chain of office to the president elect, Mike Harris, marking the end of one year and the start of the next.

The ceremony took place in the course of a Zoom meeting attended by members of the club and assistant governor elect, Ray Spare.

Thanks were given to Ben as the outgoing President for his work over the preceding year. The rotarians sent their good wishes to Mike for his upcoming work on behalf of the club.

Hinckley Ambion Rotary Club is a small but very friendly club comprising 19 members, both female and male, who are always on the lookout for new members.

The club normally meets at The Royal Arms in Sutton Cheney, at 7.30pm, on most Wednesdays.

The group is currently meeting virtually via Zoom, at the usual time. People of all ages are welcome to join. If you would like to know more, contact Colin Jones at colinjones114@gmail. com.
