Antiques Roadshow swaps from city centre to castle

BBC show is set to relocate later in the year to Kenilworth

-

THE BBC’s popular TV programme Antiques Roadshow will no longer be able to film in Coventry.

Fiona Bruce and the rest of the show’s presenters and experts had been due at Coventry Cathedralon September 8.

But due to the city centre location, filming will instead take place at Kenilworth Castle alongside a small invited audience.

For the first time in over 40 years, the show - presented by Fiona Bruce - will be filmed on a closed set.

The move comes ahead of the show filming its 13th series, as the producers need to consider social distancing whilst recording the show to protect guests, crew and the public.

Instead of turning up to have items valuated, those hoping to be considered to appear on the show will have to apply online.

A BBC spokesperson said: “Antiques Roadshow is required to film very differently and will be operating an invitation-only policy this year to comply with current government and WHO regulations and ensure everybody involved is safe.

“We originally planned to film in Coventry but unfortunately this is no longer possible due to the city centre location.

“Kenilworth Castle is in close proximity to Coventry and we would welcome local residents to share their hidden treasures with us via the ‘Share Your Story’ section on our website. We also look forward to featuring Coventry in our WWII special next year.”
