Yards and jitties of the town
WELCOME TO LATEST COLUMN BY PAUL AND SUE OF HINCKLEY DISTRICT PAST AND PRESENT
ASK any old town resident and they will tell you stories of the many yards that existed back in their day.
These yards were little communities of their own with many families living very close to each other and with the small dwellings, large families would somehow manage to all live together.
Of course today lots of these yards or jitties as we call them have either disappeared or are now just a cut through between two roads or streets.
So this week we thought we would show just a few of the pictures we have along with the late Fred Warrens list of
The Yards and Jitties of Hinckley. Updated by Paul Gardner with acknowledgement to F.H.Warren who originally compiled this list.
