Antiques Roadshow calls on fans to search for heirlooms

-

PEOPLE with interesting antiques are being asked to put them forward for consideration when the popular BBC TV show Antiques Roadshow comes to the region.

The show is now being filmed at Kenilwoth Castle this month, but due to Covid-19 it is being filmed on a closed set with a small invited audience only.

That is being done to ensure the safety of the film crew, guests and the wider public.

The producers of the show are keen to hear from people who may have an item worthy of interest.

A spokesman for the show said: “If you have family treasures or a car boot bargain that you would like us to look at let us know now. We could be inviting you on the show to find out if the mystery object is actually worth a fortune.”

The producers are also particularly appealing for items which might have a real story to tell.

The spokesman added: “We’re looking for items which are a bit of a mystery to the owners - these may not necessarily be valuable object but have a real story behind them.

“We are asking people to write in with their items and are very keen to make sure that the Antiques Roadshow continues to represent all of the communities that we are filming in.”

The Kenilworth Castle show had originally be due to take place at Coventry Cathedral on September 8. The rescheduling means it is the first time in over 40 years, the show will be filmed on a closed set.

However the producers are planning a Coventry show next year and it will have a special Second World War theme.

They are also inviting people who may have interesting Second World War artefacts to get in touch.

The spokesman for the show added: “We are also looking for Second World War stories for a special programme which we are hoping to film in Coventry early next year.”

Anyone with items for consideration can submit them on the ‘share your story’ section of the show’s website.
