Couple’s plea to bring kittens over to county

Bella and Alba have been rescued from the streets of Oman

A PAIR of street kittens in Oman could be heading to a new home in Hinckley – but they need your help to get here.

Bella and Alba are three-month-old Arabian Mau felines that were found in a car park with their mother, without any access to food and water.

They were taken in by rescuer Lesley Lewins, of Street Cats of Oman, and a family from Hinckley are looking to permanently adopt them.

Sonya Eales and her husband are planning to take in the kittens but they face costs of £2,000 to get them over to Britain.

Sadly, Bella had to have one of her rear legs amputated and she will need further treatment.

Sonya has set up a gofundme page asking for donations to bring the young cats over. She said on the page: “We are asking for donations to help with a further operation to Bella’s leg, flights, clearance documents, vaccinations and blood tests, also to get them safely and healthy from Oman to the UK.

“Any money left over will also be donated back to Street Cats of Oman so that Lesley and her friends can continue the struggle to look after the many stray cats of Oman and keep them fed and healthy.”

Sonya and her husband already have a four-yearold tabby cat, Piccolo.

They previously took on a rescue cat from Barwell.

Speaking of Bella and how she will get on with living with an amputated leg, Sonya said: “I think they are pretty adaptable.

“She just needs somewhere secure to eat and sleep. She’s still a little cat, it’s happened while she’s quite young.”

Sonya grew up with cats and dogs at home.

She had been following Street Cats of Oman on Instagram for about a year when she heard about Bella and Alba.

Their mother has been neutered and is in a healthy condition.

Visit Sonya’s gofundme page to donate to the cause.
