Celebs back reality star Ashley’s plea to help save baby Azaylia

REALITY TV star and former Barwell FC footballer Ashley Cain’s appeal to help save his baby daughter has been boosted by a host of famous wellwisher­s.

Former Manchester United and England footballer Rio Ferdinand and his TOWIE star wife, Kate, donated £1,000 to Ashley’s GoFundMe page, set up in a bid to get Ashley’s daughter specialist treatment for leukaemia.

Sevenmonth-old Azaylia had a bone marrow test last month in a bid to discover whether her recent transplant had worked, but her family was left heartbroke­n when doctors confirmed the treatment had been unsuccessf­ul.

The reality star revealed that his daughter’s best chance of surviving the sickness lies in treatment available in Singapore.

Ashley was on the books at Barwell FC when he signed up for TV show Ex On The Beach.

Mirror Online reported that he told the many donors to his appeal: “I am absolutely lost for words. I’m overwhelme­d by the sheer amount of support that you guys have given us.”

Kate and Rio, who recently welcomed their first child together, Cree, have been joined by Love Island stars Molly-Mae Hague and Maura Higgins, who also donated £1,000 each.

Other supporters include footballer­s Cyrus Christie, Harrison Reed and former Hinckley United player Andre Gray – Little Mix star Leigh-Anne Pinnock’s fiance. PrettyLitt­leThing millionair­e Umar Kamani donanted £20,000. Azaylia’s GoFundMe target of £1 million was passed in a matter of hours.

The reality TV star revealed that his daughter’s best chance of surviving the sickness lies in treatment available in Singapore.

But since the donations came pouring in, Ashley and his partner, Safiyya, have shared their devastatio­n at discoverin­g an essential drug needed for their daughter’s leukaemia battle will not be released.

Ashley said: “I honestly can’t thank everyone enough.

“I’m looking really tired and I’ve got pain in my eyes as we have found out that one of the drugs that Azaylia needs to start treatment tomorrow, in order to bring her leukemia count down and get her into remission, is not being released by the pharmaceut­ical companies.

“So not only have I been looking after Azaylia, but going through heavy talks with doctors, consultant­s and pharmaceut­ical companies to try to get this essential drug that Azaylia needs.”

Ashley, his father and brother are to cycle 150 miles to raise money for other families affected by the disease.
