Curtain up at town theatre

THE curtain will finally be going up at a popular theatre in Hinckley as stage shows restart there this week.

Actors and singers will be back in the limelight at the Concordia Theatre for the first time since March 2020, with performanc­es including music shows, comedy dramas and Christmas production­s.

The group has issued advice to visitors about safety at the venue as it opens it doors again.

In a post on the theatre’s Facebook page, organisers said: “Whilst masks are now a personal choice, it is recommende­d that our volunteers and guests continue to wear them, especially when moving around the building. Please do make use of the many hand sanitiser stations that are situated throughout the building. Additional cleaning of touch points such as door handles and handrails throughout the complex, will continue to be done by our volunteers. ”

Upcoming shows include: September 7 to 11 - The Moon is Halfway to Heaven - The funny story of a lifetime friendship between two men.

September 23 to 25 - Here Come the Girls - Some of Concordia’s bestknown female performers take to the stage, backed by a 20-piece orchestra

October 10 - The Ultimate Classic Rock Show - An evening of the best rock anthems past and present

October 27 to 30 - Bedroom Farce - One of Alan Ayckbourn’s bestloved comedies, follow Trevor and Susannah as they move around several bedrooms to get their relationsh­ip back on track.

October 31 - Riding Rainbows Tour featuring Bev Bevan - A performanc­e from folk rock band, Quill.

November 11 to 13 - AOS Christmas Cracker - Concordia Amateur Operatic Society perform some festive musical numbers.

November 14 - A Star is Torn Drag queen, singer and impersonat­or Ceri Dupree will be in action with sketches and songs.

November 20 - Carpenters Tribute - Yesterday Once More will recreate the duo’s best-loved hits.

November 24 to 27 - Back Where We Belong! - Students from the Shelby Academy of Performing Arts return for an evening of dancing, singing and acting.

November 28 - Christmas with the Rat Pack & Marilyn - A tribute show to get you rocking for the Christmas season.
