Leicester City duo to ‘lift the lid’ on club both on and off the pitch

FORMER CAPTAIN AND CHIEF EXECUTIVE TAKING STORIES ON TOUR

- By STAFF REPORTER morganlawrence.co.uk/events

A former Leicester City favourite and the club’s first chief executive are promising to lift the lid on life at Filbert Street, on and off the pitch.

Ex-captain Gary Mills and Barrie Pierpoint will be tracing City’s evolution across the 90s on their Gaz and Baz Off The Cuff tour, delivering “an inside take on the Foxes’ ascension from Division Two underdogs to Premiership success”.

Mills’s autobiography, Young Millsy, has just been released while Pierpoint has written Minding My Own Football Business.

“We’re delighted to be taking our stories on the road,” Pierpoint said.

“What we have here is a chance for fans to relive a moment in time, a journey which chronicles many memorable moments, from both a footballing point of view and the business of football.

“But this won’t be a dull history tour. Expect plenty of laughs, stories from the dressing room and backstage banter. Nothing is off limits, and I’ll even bring a few ‘Pierpoint out’ posters along for fans to hold up, like old times.”

He said so far seven dates and venues have been confirmed on the tour, with the action kicking off at Blues Bar & Grill on October 1, with stops at Lutterworth, Aylestone, Coalville and Wigston.

Mills, a two-time European Cup winner – with Nottingham Forest – said the tour offers an opportunity for fans to hear about his experiences on and off the pitch, including working under Brian Clough, and his time managing teams such as Notts County, York City, Gateshead and Wrexham.

“This is an interactive event not to be missed,” he said.

“Whether you’re a fan of Leicester, Forest or football in general, we’ll be taking questions from the audience on a host of events throughout mine and Barrie’s career.

“Both on and off the pitch, I’ve been blessed to have worked with some amazing people, so whether it’s the madness of Clough or the principles of Little you’d like to hear more on, we’re here to give you the answers and anecdotes behind it all. We can’t wait to hit the road.”

Pierpoint’s Minding My Own

Football Business traces the evolution of Leicester City in the 90s, including the birthplace of Fox Leisurewear, Family Night Football and the team’s journey through three Wembley play-off finals and three League Cup finals.

Contributors include Steve Walsh and Emile Heskey.

Pierpoint said: “I was blessed to have such a wealth of characters contribute to Minding My Own Football Business, a story I could not tell without them. I’m hoping we’ll be able to provide one or two special surprises as we embark on this tour, so stay tuned for more info.”

Young Millsy will be available from September 9 and is available to pre-order.
