Valuable points picked up by first and second teams

EARL Shilton 1st team lost at home last Saturday against Kirby Muxloe but picked up 10 valuable points.

Kirby Muxloe won the toss and elected to field. Earl Shilton reached 166 all out off 34 overs.

Top scorer was James Lester with 53, followed by Sam Smart 33, Phil Crouch 25 and Zak Potter 20.

Kirby Muxloe reached the target of 167 for 7 off 40 overs. Pick of the bowlers was again Phil Crouch with 2 for 13 off 12 overs, followed by Zak Potter 2 for 41, James Millinship 2 for 22 and Josh Robins 1 for 31.

Earl Shilton 2nd team enjoyed a successful weekend picking up 38 valuable points.

On Saturday they played away against Bardon Hill 2nd team.

Earl Shilton Captain for the game Tom Kirk won the toss and elected to field.

Bardon Hill started well and looked to be set for a big score, however with an excellent bowling performanc­e from Tom Kirk 4 for 37 and Charlie Dickerson 4 for 30, followed by Tom Simons 1 for 47 and Lauren Chamberlai­n 1 for 29, Bardon were restricted to 175 all out off 37.3 overs.

Earl Shilton started well with opener Pav Singh reaching 51, however as the innings proceeded and runs were made and wickets fell, the end became a tense affair with Earl Shilton finishing on 160 for 9 off 40 overs.

Bardon won the game but Earl Shilton picked up 13 valuable points.

On Sunday Earl Shilton played a rearranged game against Maher CC 3rd team and gained a must win performanc­e picking up 25 points. Earl Shilton batted first reaching 187 all out off 37.2 overs. Pick of the batsman was Zak Potter 63, followed by Phil Crouch 50 and Pav Singh 32.

Maher chased down the target but were bowled all out for 179 off 35.2 overs.

Pick of the bowlers was Zak Potter 5 for 23, followed by Josh Robins 3 for 59 and Lauren Chamberlai­n 2 for 56.
