Church to host concert for good cause
ALL Saints Church in Sapcote is hosting for the second time a concert featuring the popular Countesthorpe based brass quintet LE8 Five and their guest artistes, the a cappella quartet Fourplay.
The concert will commence at 7:30pm and finish at about 9.30pm on Friday 1st October.
This year admission will be by ticket only due to COVID19 space restrictions. Price £10 for adults, those aged 18 and under free.
LE8 Five are a group of exceptionally talented local musicians; Mick Beeston and Lee Rogers on trumpet, Richard Shaw on tenor horn, Jan Beeston on trombone and Garry Sleath, the well known former head of music at John Cleveland College, on Tuba.
A spokesperson said: “The quintet was formed in May 2018 and is extremely popular. They perform a wide repertoire ranging from early classical to jazz, Dixieland, rock and pop. Their concert will be hugely entertaining and brass is incredibly well suited to the acoustics of the church building.
“Fourplay is a 4-part harmony a cappella group formed because of their love of singing in close harmony (and a love of tea, cake, chatting, laughing and each other).
“They are Melanie, Carolynn, Dawn and Lesley. They write their own arrangements and sing a varied repertoire of modern, pop, jazz classics and swing.
“All Saints Church, Sapcote, possesses a very fine Porritt pipe organ, acknowledged to be one of the best examples of its type.
“It currently requires some very expensive renovation work to be carried out and over several years the church has been trying to raise more than £18,000 required for this. So far the fund raised has over £4,000. Money made by the church will go towards this work.
