Exciting new chapter as we celebrate God’s goodness and support

-

THE Vine Christian Bookshop celebrated its 20th anniversary on September 1 this year.

This felt like a real milestone and was celebrated in the shop all week with a special cake, slices of which were offered to all customers.

Volunteers past and present were invited to drop in to share with us, as well to thank them for all their help over the years.

The original aims of the shop, when it was first opened, was to serve the Christian community of Hinckley and beyond and to help those seeking to know more about the Christian faith find answers.

The aims also included offering a friendly place for people to visit and support for those in need.

It is great to be able to say that those aims are still being fulfilled today and we couldn’t have done it without the support of so many people – volunteers, staff, trustees and our fantastic “Friends of The Vine”, who regularly donate to help keep us afloat.

Of course, the last 18 months have been a particularly trying time and so it felt extra special to be celebrating at this time and we look forward to marking more milestones in the years ahead.

We are so grateful to God for all his provision over the last 20 years and for helping us through the pandemic.

We are very aware that we are dependent upon God. Even when things have looked bleak He has always provided for our needs, whether that was a new volunteer or staff member, encouraging words from a customer or financial support from donors.

If you are interested in supporting us in any of the ways mentioned above, do please drop in for a chat.

At this time of year we are gearing

Even when things have looked bleak He has always provided for our needs, whether that was a new volunteer or staff member

up for another celebration – National Bookshop Day and Christian Bookshop Week.

This celebration of independent Christian bookshops runs from October 9 for a week and during this time we will be rewarding every book purchase of £5 or over with a free voucher for a National Book Token.

Customers will also be able to enter a prize draw with every book purchase to win a beautiful tote bag full of mystery books, worth over £80! The bag will contain a mixture of titles, including some children’s books.

We’d love to see you during that week – or at any time. Our opening times are currently 10.30am to 2.30pm, Monday to Friday and 9am until 2pm on Saturdays.
