Beauty spot in top 10 of most-loved parks in UK

- By BECKY JONES GOOD REVIEWS Reporter EARN BRADGATE PARK RATING

BRADGATE Park has been named the 10th most-loved park, outside of London, in the UK.

That is according to a study by online toy store PoundToy, which looked at TripAdvisor reviews and annual Google searches.

It scored the parks out of 10 for each review factor, to reveal the most loved parks across the UK.

With 830 acres of wild and beautiful countryside, populated by hundreds of resident deer, the park features dramatic rocky outcrops and gnarled old oak trees, many of which are well over 500 years old.

There are also the historic ruins of Bradgate House – home of nine-day queen Lady Jane Grey – and the landmark Old John’s Tower.

Visitors can opt for a hike up the hills and enjoy the views, or take it easy and stick to the driveway running through the lower part of the park, close to the shallow waters of the River Lin.

According to PoundToy, it chose the parks from the 50 biggest parks according to Ordnance Survey, as well as the most popular and most reviewed on TripAdvisor.

It removed any with less than 500 reviews so that it had the top 50 definitive best parks.

When it came to ranking the parks, factors included the percentage of TripAdvisor reviewers who gave the park each score, as well as the number of annual Google searches for the park, and the total number of reviews, as this indicates how popular the park is.

Each park was given a normalised score out of 10 for each review factor and then an average of each score was taken to create the overall score.

Here are the UK’s 10 most-loved parks outside of London, according to the PoundToy study, along with scores: 1) Christ Church Meadow, Oxfordshire – 6.62

2) Seven Sisters Country Park, East Sussex – 6.50

3) Jephson Gardens, Warwickshire 6.41

4) Jesmond Dene, Tyne and Wear – 6.31

5) Kelvin Grove Park, Lanarkshire 6.31

6) Sefton Park, Merseyside – 6.30 7) Holyrood Park, Midlothian – 6.30 8) Roundhay Park, West Yorkshire 6.30

9) Windsor Great Park, Berkshire – 6.29 10) Bradgate Park, Leicestershire - 6.29
