Former bar is set to re-open under new owners

- By MASON MOORE

DRINKERS in Hinckley town centre could soon be revisiting an old haunt as new owners are relaunching a former bar.

The former home of vis a vis, on Regent Street, has been taken on by a group called OUT OUT, the Hinckley Free Press reports.

The name is inspired by comedian Micky Flanagan’s sketch about when a group goes “out out”, meaning a night of major festivities is in order.

Managers have set up a Facebook page to provide updates on the new venture, encouraging locals to “breathe a sigh of relief - you’re not getting another charity shop”.

They have also created a TikTok account, with clips posted of building works taking place inside the venue.

In their latest post on the Facebook page, the group said: “Really appreciate the likes so far guys ... feel free to invite your friends to like the page also.

“We are currently in the early stages of getting things together but will surely share our progress with you all.”

They also posted on the Spotted Hinckley page to let people know about the new bar, saying they will be needing tradespeople for future works, such as plumbers and carpenters. Regent Street’s hospitality offering has changed a lot over recent years, with the most recent addition of bar and restaurant Revival, which opened in the former Gravity venue in August 2020. Former Wetherspoon pub The New Baron of Hinckley, which the pub chain left in September 2019, was quickly relaunched with a new look by Elmesthorpe Brewery Company, while Ponchinello’s pizza takeaway has expanded with a pizza café next door.

Family-run café eatery RuSiana also

relaunched the former Petite Chouette unit, in August 2020.

Another place to eat could soon be added to the street, as Mexican restaurant chain Benito’s Hat is looking to take on a unit in the former Quartz nightclub, with the owners applying for an alcohol licence there.

The former nightspot is being divided into three retail units, one of which has just opened as a tanning salon, run by Forever Sun.

A crafts and gifts shop has also just been opened on Regent Street, run by the same group behind the Haunted Antiques Paranormal Research Centre, which regularly hosts investigations in its rooms above the shop.

The Hinckley Times has contacted OUT OUT for more details.
