Second half blitz sinks Bosworth

- MARKET BOSWORTH 24 OLNEY 48

THIS game was the fourth consecutive home fixture for Market Bosworth, and one both Olney and Market Bosworth needed to win this one to maintain their league position with only one more game left to play this season.

Within seconds of the start it was Olney who looked to be the superior side but from a clearance by Bosworth centre Culpin into Olney’s twenty-two things looked different when from a line out Bosworth’s prop Dan Summers touched down to open the scoring with Randon adding the conversion.

It was Bosworth who looked the better side in these opening minutes but an interception let Olney get out of their half and help their wing forward get over for a touch down under the posts and with the conversion the points were level.

Play continued to ebb and flow from one end of the pitch to the other until Olney were awarded a penalty ten metres from the Bosworth line, they opted for the kick and from the line out got the try from a push over.

Bosworth seemed to be overawed by this achievement and within seconds let Olney get over for another try and conversion followed straight away by their hooker going over for another five points.

Olney started to pile on the points with another try in the corner but Bosworth took advantage of the Olney centre getting a yellow card when Bosworth’s captain for the day Culpin ran in a quick try converted by Randon.

Several injuries to Olney’s players caught them in disarray to let Josh Dean get a touch down in the corner quickly followed by a try from winger Tom Randon to bring the half time score quite close at Market Bosworth 24 Olney 29.

The first period of the second half saw the game move from one end of the pitch to the other without a score until Olney scored three quick tries to increase their advantage.

Both teams continued to play entertaining rugby right up to the final whistle but the visitors came out on top proving their lofty position in the league to be justified.
