Theatre will be alive to the Sound of Music

-

THE Sound of Music is coming to the Concordia Theatre from May 3-14.

The Concordia Amateur Operatic Society will be performing the famous musical at the town venue.

Some 50 years ago, in November 1972, Concordia Theatre’s doors opened for the first time to The Sound of Music.

A spokesperson said: “This year marks the 50th anniversary of Concordia AOS and it is only fitting that our next production should be... yes, you guessed it, The Sound of Music!

“This is a story of family, love and loyalty and Maria Rainer, a postulant at Nonnberg Abbey, who is placed as the governess for the seven children of Captain Georg von Trapp. Through time, Maria earns the trust and love of the children. Will Maria win the heart of Captain von Trapp? Will Captain von Trapp put family before duty?

“Iconic musical numbers include My Favourite Things, So Long, Farewell, Climb Ev’ry Mountain, Do-Re-Mi, Sixteen Going on Seventeen, to name but a few.

“Please do join us for Concordia’s 50th year”.

Tickets cost £16 each and a 10% discount is offered for group bookings of 10 or more tickets for any one performance.

For more details see the theatre’s website.

The musical Ordinary Days is also being performed at the Concordia Theatre from May 25-28.

The show is being organised as a theatre fundraising event.

Adam Gwon’s musical Ordinary Days is the story of four people trying to find their place in the hustle and bustle of New York City.

While Warren is struggling to be seen, Deb loses all her research notes, Claire tries to move on and Jason gets used to the idea of moving in, little do they know the impact their actions will have on each other.

A spokesperson said: “A new and exciting venture for Concordia fundraising, this refreshingly honest and funny musical is performed with just a piano and four voices. This warm and witty musical will leave you with a glow in your heart and a spring in your step.”
