190 homes get the go-ahead

TWO DEVELOPMENTS ON ADJACENT SITES OUTSIDE OF TOWN

PLANS for 190 homes on neighbouring sites to the north of Earl Shilton have been approved.

The properties are split across two, separate developments.

One of the schemes will see Midland Heart redevelop Hill Top Farm, with farm buildings being demolished to make way for an estate of 49 “low-cost” homes and a bungalow, to replace the existing Ashby House.

Outline planning permission has also been granted to developer Gladman to build 140 homes on a 23-acre parcel of fields to the immediate north and west of Hill Top Farm.

The application indicated the development would again include 28 low-cost homes and a children’s play area, but those details, along with the type and style of the housing, are to be decided at a later stage.

Farm development will be of two storeys and have two off-street parking spaces.

Vehicles will access the fouracre estate via a new entrance off Leicester Road.

The complex will include 31 two-bedroom homes, 18 three-bedroom homes and a two-bedroom bungalow.

As a condition of planning permission being granted, the developer will contribute £20,000 to NHS health services in the area and £177,000 towards schools provision.

The news comes after town residents were recently asked for their views on plans for part of the Earl Shilton Sustainable Urban Development, a proposal to develop 104 acres of fields to the south of the town, up to the A47 Clickers Way, which have been submitted by developers Bloor Homes, Jelson Homes and Barwood Land.

In total, the development would include 1,500 homes and a primary school.

The school would have a five-acre site including parking and an outdoor play and sports space.

Vehicles would access the development via two new roundabouts on the A47, as well as from Mill Lane, Breach Lane and Astley Road.

An application was filed with Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council for about two-thirds of the site, including 1,000 homes, the employment space and part of the primary school.

Another application for the other 500 homes and the rest of the development is expected to be lodged in the coming weeks.
