Community cash offer to help mark the Jubilee
HINCKLEY and Bosworth Borough Council has launched two funds to help communities celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in style.
The Making a Difference fund is for established groups, which can apply for up to £3,000 to support grassroots projects.
The Community Volunteering fund is for small groups of volunteers, which can can apply for up to £500.
The funds have been launched to support wider jubilee events and community projects across the borough.
Groups will need to demonstrate they are an established voluntary group and that the jubilee celebrations are an extension of their community activities. Grants are not available for one-off private street parties.
The deadline to apply is Friday May 20.
Councillor Keith Lynch, executive member for the voluntary sector, said: “We know the local community will want to take part in the national and local events and activities as the country comes together to celebrate the Queen’s long reign and remarkable dedication to public service.
“We are delighted to be able to set up two dedicated grants schemes for local people and organisations wanting to host their own celebratory events and activities that bring local communities together.
“The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee is such a momentous occasion for our country. We feel that everybody should be given the chance to create special memories and enjoy local tributes that will remind us of the legacy of Her Majesty in generations to come.”
