Speed cam vans out in force at 17 new locations
WHEN speeding cars cause a danger and residents complain, the local road safety partnership goes out to investigate.
And following covert speed surveys around Leicestershire, 17 new locations have been found to have a problem with traffic going at excessive speeds.
The locations below will be added to the long list of stops the van regularly makes around the county. For the next 18 months, Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Road Safety Partnership (LLRRSP) will be sending the van to the following sites.
Locations in Leicester and around the county’s towns and villages will be patrolled by the mobile speed camera van, which will visit each location for about two hours at a time during the coming months. They include sites in Lutterworth,
Melton, Glenfield, Enderby, Ashby and more.
The community concern sites in both Leicester and Leicestershire: Liberty Road, Glenfield Henley Road, Leicester Glenfield Road, Leicester Melton Spinney Road, Melton Mowbray
Swithland Lane, Rothley Coopers Lane, Dunton Bassett B582 Blaby Road, Enderby (30mph)
Broughton Road, Croft Brookfield Way, Lutterworth Riverside Way, Littlethorpe Coventry Road, Burbage Main Street, Swannington Peckleton Lane, Desford Brascote Lane, Newbold Verdon Ashby Road, Donisthorpe Burton Road, Ashby Measham Road, Moria / Donisthorpe (30mph & 40mph)
Jonathan Clarkson, spokesperson for the safety partnership, said, “The difference between a few miles per hour can be the difference between life and death. A speed limit is not a target; you should always drive at a speed suited to the weather conditions and type of road, but not in excess of the advised speed limit.
“Make sure you drive at a safe speed at all times.”
