Hinckley LRFC teenager nets Forest academy spot

-

HINCKLEY LRFC teenager Daniel Organ has signed a contract for Nottingham Forest after impressing whilst on trial.

Daniel joined the Hinckley LRFC (then called Leicester Road) Development Programme as an U13 linking up with lead age group coach Simon Marriott who had supervised and been very influential in his football career since U8’s.

Marriott has assembled a strong balanced squad that won the MJPL Cup last season and sit comfortably in the top quarter of the MJPL U15 section (64 teams) this season.

He said: “Coaching can be a thankless task sometimes but it is all made worthwhile when you see someone you have coached and seen develop from the age of 8 see his dreams come true and sign for a professional football club.

“The move to Hinckley LRFC gave Dan the chance to develop his game further. This has all been made possible with the support of his parents, the club and coaching ethos at Hinckley LRFC where player development is at the heart of youth football. I would like to thank Dan and his parents for their support and wish him every success in his future football journey.”

Daniel is one of a number of players that stood out in the U15 squad this season and took his chance when the opportunity rose, culminating in the offer to join the Nottingham Forest Academy on a permanent basis, four weeks into an eight week trial.

Dad Simon Organ, Daniel’s biggest fan along with mum Rachel, was delighted with the news and although he had been helping Simon Marriott in a support coaching role, he will now focus on watching Daniel’s career progress.

Hinckley LRFC hope that Daniel will follow a similar path to Jordan Ponticelli who broke into the club’s first team at 16 years of age and went on to play for Coventry City, Tranmere Rovers and Macclesfield Town in the EFL before signing permanently for National League promotion contenders Wrexham last season.

A club spokesman said: “This is a great achievement for Daniel and we will be keeping close tabs “on one of our own” as he transitions into youth then adult football.”
