HINCKLEY and Bosworth Borough Council have launched two new community funds to help local communities celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in style.

The funds have been launched to support wider jubilee events and community projects across the borough.

Groups and volunteers will need to demonstrate that they are an existing/ established voluntary group, and that the jubilee celebrations are an extension of your existing offer to the community.

Grants are not available for one-off private street parties celebrating the Platinum Jubilee.

The funds are:

■■Community Volunteering fund: Small groups of volunteers can apply for up to £500, which is open to non-constituted group.

Executive Member for the Voluntary Sector, Councillor Keith Lynch said: “We know the local community will want to take part in the national and local events and activities as the country comes together to celebrate The Queen’s long reign and remarkable dedication to public service.

“We are delighted to be able to set up two dedicated grants schemes for local people and organisations wanting to host their own celebratory events and activities that bring local communities together.

“The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee is such a momentous occasion for our country.
