Two poles and two wins for Harry King

-

HARRY King swept the board with two pole positions and two race wins at Spa-Francorchamps to help Parker Revs Motorsport get off to a flying start to the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux season.

A late addition to the team and competing alongside regular driver Jeroen Kreeft, the 2020 Carrera Cup GB champion made an instant impact.

King topped both free practice sessions and carried that form over into qualifying where his two fastest laps would be good enough for pole in both contests.

Kreeft, who narrowly missed out on the Am class runner-up spot last year when he finished equal on points but was classified third on results, also drove well, finishing the qualifying session eighth in class.

In the opening 30 minutes (plus one lap) contest on Friday afternoon, King got off the line well and didn’t look back, with his quickest lap almost one second faster than anyone else, crossing the line over 15 seconds clear of the field.

Behind, sadly, Kreeft finished in the pits after a solid performance.

On Saturday morning, King again started well and pulled clear but would find his advantage wiped out in the closing stages as the safety car was called out to recover a car from the gravel.

Despite that, King again drove away from the rest of the field to take a second win, while Kreeft avoided the dramas that befell other competitors to claim fifth in Am.

King said: “It was a pretty perfect way to start the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux season, being quick in Friday’s practice and qualifying and then securing both race wins.

“I felt great being back in the blue colours of Team Parker Racing and Octane Finance and it was great to be back working with engineers and mechanics that I have spent the last few years with. It was an enjoyable weekend.”

King and Kreeft will next be in action in a month’s time, returning to Belgium as part of the Zolder Superprix over the weekend of June 10-12, for rounds three and four of the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux season.
