It’s a mixed weekend for Hinckley Amateur sides

HINCKLEY Amateur had a mixed weekend with the first team losing to Barkby but two good wins for the 2nds and 3rds

Barkby batted first and got off to a strong start with Ben Hollis 54, Lee Wolloff and Matt Yuill both 32, but at 131-1 the Amateur bowlers pegged the scoring back, two wickets each for Jamie Harris-Ensor,

Alan York, and Andy Wainscot, some big hitting at the end of the innings posted a decent 259-9.

At tea Amateur batsmen thought it was a par score with a small and fast outfield, but they got off to the worst possible start with openers Wainscot and Ritesh Grandhi both falling for a duck, Ed Proctor 21, Alan York 23 and

Tosif Ravat top scoring with 59 tried to get the innings going, but after the poor start they were dismissed for 138.

Amateur 2nds beat Bombay at Ashby Road, Ronik Rajashekar 47 and Waheed Raza Jamil continued his fine season with 45,Taral Naik 24 and some big hits from skipper Sam Rowe 21 at the end took the score to a competitiv­e 202-7

Bombay struggled against some accurate bowling with three wickets each for spinners Mick Butterwort­h and Waheed Raza Jamil, earning himself another man of the match performanc­e, as the visitors were bowled out for 101.

Amateur 3rd XI had their first win of the season as the travelled to Loughborou­gh to play Maher, Amateurs Paul Ensor 5-15 and Nigel Hind 3-11 took advantage of the conditions bowling the hosts out for 125, taking the last 8 wickets for just 36 runs

A couple of early scares but Ken Burke then led the reply with a superb unbeaten 65 as the Amateurs got home by four wickets with over 10 overs to spare
