City’s big night out has touch of royalty

- By BECKY JONES Reporter loros.co.uk/twilight

A MAJOR charity event will this year have a royal theme to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II.

The Loros annual Twilight Walk will take place across the city on Saturday, May 28, with participants urged to turn up in their finery for the Royal Parade theme.

The 10km (6.2-mile) event will start and finish at King Power Stadium, with the route featuring entertainment, food stalls and more.

In keeping with the theme, walkers are encouraged to dress up as kings and queens or fairytaleinspired princes, princesses, knights and jesters.

Now in its 12th year, the Twilight Walk brings walkers together to raise money for the hospice, in Groby Road, Leicester, and to remember loved ones.

Last year, those taking part collectively walked more than 53,000 miles and made each step count by raising almost £50,000 for the charity.

Lisa Wilson, events co-ordinator at Loros, said: “We’re thrilled to present our Royal Parade Twilight Walk in a year where the Queen has made history.

“The Twilight Walk continues to be Leicester’s biggest night out and we hope that this year will see even more supporters joining the fun in fancy dress to raise funds for Loros.

“It’s such a high-energy, feel-good evening which really brings people together.

“With this theme, participants can really use their imagination for their royal-inspired outfits.”

Early-bird tickets for the event, which is being sponsored by Dunelm, can be bought for £10 each for a limited time only.

Janice Dunn, head of community at Dunelm, said: “We’re really excited to be sponsoring the Twilight Walk again this year. We can’t wait to see everyone’s royal outfits and raise some important money for Loros.”
