Postponed celebratio­n set for July 3

EARL SHILTON Town chairman Mick Coe has revealed plans for the club to celebrate its postponed President’s Day Celebratio­n and also to mark 50 years of the club’s junior section.

He said he was looking forward to an important season for the club.

“The President’s Day has been arranged to celebrate playing cricket at Keats Lane for 100 years (1921-2021).

“The event is arranged for Sunday July 3, which includes not only the main event at 1pm of a T20 game between ESTCC 1st team and an ‘Old South Leicesters­hire League Representa­tive’ side, made up from several clubs who were our opponents in 1921, but also Leicesters­hire County Cricket Club Academy U16 side will be play a T20 game against ESTCC 1st team at 5pm.

“To start the day at 10am, ESTCC Women & Girls’ team and ESTCC Academy will play games, before Leicesters­hire County Cricket Club U11 Girls team play an interclub game at 11am. Bar and food offers will be available, and we hope everyone will enjoy the day.

“The new season league fixtures are underway and we wish the 1st and 2nd teams the very best of luck for 2022. Again, we cannot express how much we appreciate the fantastic work that Howard, Bill, and the Ground Team have done and continue to do.

“I also want to thank the committee and all the people that put in a fantastic amount of effort during last year and over the winter and in preparatio­n for 2022. I hope that all our players see that as a club we value everyone and are providing the best cricket facilities and coaching possible, to ensure everyone enjoys cricket at our club.

“The Academy is now headed up by James Millinship and the Women and Girls side is headed up by Nat Watkins and thanks go out to them both and also to the coaches and parents that assist them.

“We are really pleased to finally see that our new outdoor nets will be completed in May, which will really benefit our players and provide excellent facilities at our club.

“We have worked hard to improve the clubhouse after so long to provide a social facility again and create a real family ‘One Club’ environmen­t.”
