Pathways Centre in Hinckley extends its services

-

THE Pathways Centre in Hinckley has for many years been growing and expanding its range of activities, offering support in many areas of need, including people living with Dementia and Mental Health conditions, as well as supporting their carers.

Its team, headed up by Ruth Wright and including qualified support workers, has helped many people in the community, supported by Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council, and is now adding to its many and varied activities with two new weekday groups.

“Expressive Moments” reaches out to people living with Dementia and provides a time for creative activities. It is known that people with dementia can’t always express themselves verbally. This group, headed up by a professional Art Therapist, provides a means to communicate through the medium of art and craft. The group meets every Monday from 10:30am to 12:30pm, with all materials provided and expert and qualified support on hand.

Over the last couple of years, we have seen Covid-19 rob people of their loved ones, leaving a nation grieving. When you lose a loved one it can feel like your world has been turned upside down. Talking to others who have also experienced a loss can really help you find hope and strength. “Steps2Hope” is a selfhelp group providing a place for the bereaved to talk, to remember, to find comfort, to meet new friends and to move forward in hope.

Open every Wednesday from 10:30am to 11:30am, this group meets a growing need for support at times of sadness and distress.

Pathways, the Community Centre of Hinckley Baptist Church with its strap line “Join the journey”, exists to help people on their journey through the ups and downs of life and provides a space to rest for a while from the busyness and stress of life, a place of sanctuary and peace. With a Lunch Club, a Computer Club and a Community Café, to name but a few, its range of varied activities are available to meet many of the community’s needs.

Pathways can be found at the top of Baptist Walk in Hinckley, right next to Aldi on Holliers Walk, within easy walking distance of the town centre and easily accessible by car – with its own car park – or by bus. For more information about these new groups as well as all the other activities provided by this busy Community Centre, contact its manager, Ruth Wright, on 01455-890026, email pathways@hinckleybaptist.com, or just call in for a cuppa and a chat.
