Hinckley martial arts club in action at WKSA European tournament
HINCKLEY Kuk Sool Won martial artists have been in action at the annual WKSA European Tournament in Norwich.
Chief Instructor and School Owner, David Watts achieved his 5th Degree in Kuk Sool Won, known as Pyung Kwahn Jahng Nim (PKJN) which also means Master. PKJN has trained for 22 years in Kuk Sool and has been teaching at Bedworth since 2008 and Hinckley since 2020.
To obtain your black belt in Kuk Sool Won takes approximate four years and it takes approximately 20-25 years to become a Master. Kuk Sool Won of Bedworth &
Hinckley had four students (including Master David Watts) who were testing that day, KSN Ian Reason and KSN Corey Reason for 3rd degree and JKN Sharon Reason for her 2nd degree.
After the gruelling testing for the Black Belts, there was the WKSA Black Belt Tournament. Master David Watts and five students from Kuk Sool Won of Bedworth were successful in obtaining 10 medals, these were for: PKJN Dave Watts: 2nd in Techniques; KSN Ian Reason: 4th in Techniques; KSN Jacob Reid: 1st in Techniques, 2nd in Forms, 3rd in Staff, 4th in Short sticks;JKN Zoe Reid: 3rd in Sparring, 4th in Techniques; Ben Eason (aged 8): 2nd in Sparring, 4th in Techniques.
Kuk Sool Won is a relatively young Martial Art which combines all aspects of Traditional Korean Martial Arts including Forms, Self Defence Techniques, Sparring, Weapons and much more.
