CLEANING UP CONSTRUCTION
A London biotech startup called Biohm has developed a construction system which could improve environmentally friendly construction. Orb can be used to create carbon-negative buildings which can be deconstructed at any stage of their life. Created from food and agricultural waste and mycelium insulation, it is made by feeding waste to the root system of mushrooms. Biohm says Orb could create more agile infrastructure to architects, property developers and occupants, and “replace every harmful construction material with something sustainable,” according to Biohm founder Ehab Sayed.
