Homebuilding & Renovating

A clear investment

If you’re the owner of a period property, there are more reasons than ever to update those old windows…

-

Windows are a defining feature of a period building so it’s important to have modern windows that match the historic aesthetic of your home, but which also perform to the highest energye cient standards. As one of the UK’S premium window and door designers, The Residence Collection brings together a suite of three systems, all designed and made in the UK, with their ultimate original timber alternative window being the R9.

FUTUREPROOFED FEATURES

If you own a heritage home, R9 windows are designed to authentically replicate 19th-century timber designs through the key principles, shape and dimensions. As a result, the R9 has been approved for use in a large number of conservation areas and listed buildings across the UK since its launch in 2011. This acceptance makes for an easier planning and installation process and removes some of the hurdles that maintaining and upgrading an historical property brings.

DESIGN CHOICES

The R9 system has myriad bespoke options, making it the perfect fit for a wide range of homes — from the grandeur of stately homes to more modest Georgian and Victorian houses, right through to modern properties. Boasting A++ ratings, 21 standard colourways and a huge number of hardware options, there’s a window to suit every age and style of property.

INCENTIVE

There’s also another good reason for replacing those old windows — in early 2024 the government announced an energy-e ciency drive for heritage homes, which will review the restrictions placed on replacing old windows with new.

“Trying to change anything in an historic property or conservation area is a long drawn-out process, which can be immensely timely and costly,” says The Residence Collection’s sales and marketing director, Sarah Hitchings.

“Reviewing these barriers will mostly be positive, as UPVC windows oŽer a great thermal performance and U values for any type of home, so owners of older homes will really reap the benefits.”
