CLARE DURHAM

Woolley & Wallis

-

How wonderful that a single object can bring back such happy memories! The jug is Staffordshire porcelain and modelled in the manner of Coalport and Rockingham, dating from the 19th century. The ower painting is very typical of the era, and such pieces nearly always featured large pink roses or tulips. The jug was made at a time when porcelain was becoming more accessible to the middle classes. At auction today it would probably fetch around £ 30–£ 40, but I’m sure it’s worth far more as a family memento.
