This is certainly an unusual and very decorative timepiece, which appears to be made of gilt brass. It has the look of a ladies’ dressing table piece, or perhaps it’s even a small ornamental desk clock. The movement is probably fairly basic and therefore can be easily accessed from the back. The decorative details of the clock suggest it may possibly be French, and it looks as if it dates from around the second half of the 19th century, or even possibly the late 19th century. Depending on the overall crispness of the case, I would suggest an approximate estimate of £100–£150.
