29 MEISSEN ‘HALFFIGURE SERVICE’, 1723– 4 SOLD: £541,250

The Marouf Collection of 18th- century Meissen porcelain came up for sale at Bonhams in late 2012, with stratospheric expectations. It didn’t disappoint, and a highlight was the ‘ HalfFigure Service’ of tea wares – several beakers and saucers, a sugar bowl, a milk jug and a tea canister – painted with chinoiserie scenes by star artist of the time Johann Gregorius Höroldt.
